covering a pillow with fabric

Well, you know what they say about broken shit—you can always fix it. This includes pillows! At times, even pillows also get a little bored of wearing the same look every day and need some fresh attire. That’s where fabric comes in! Once covered with a vibrant new type of fabric, or other soft material, your old pillow will feel and look brand-new. This is a fun project you can try at home! This tutorial walks through how to make a pillow cover — start-to-finish in 2 easy steps.

Step 1: Measure your pillow. It is important to be aware of how much fabric you will need before starting. To do this, we need the width and length that are to be measured using a tape measure. If using a square pillow form, measure both sides. When you get these measurements be sure to add an extra inch on each side. This extra inch will allow you to make seams, the place that you are going to sew together by sewing.

Step 2: Lay Fabric and Sew around edges. Fabric Preparation- Once you have your pillow measurements useRefold the fabric and line up along one of the shorter edges, with a 4 inch seam (leave this as it will be part of envelope enclosure) so provide about an extra half in on the top at bottom for seam allowance. Using the measurements you took, cut your fabric Fold over the fabric´s edge by 1/2 inch on all sides and sew them down well. This prevents the edges from unraveling. After the edges are sewn, take your fabric with pretty sides together and fold it in half so that you can then stitch up other two opened (and untouched) parallel open sidessimilarly as before. Then flip the fabric so that right side is facing out and place the pillow inside. Tada you now have a gorgeous new pillow cover!

Pick the Fabric Wisely: When it comes to fabric, go for something tough that will endure plenty of everyday wear and tear. You can do this effectively with such fabrics as cotton, linen and polyester, whilst still reinforcing a sturdy foundation.
